Our mission is to support great artists to inspire, educate, entertain and challenge. We develop diverse audiences by delivering excellence in all forms of poetry with the aim of creating stronger communities and improving health and wellbeing through the power of poetry.

Queensland Poetry curates and administers the following projects throughout the year:

Queensland Poetry Awards;

Arts Queensland Poet-in-Residence Program;

SlammED! schools program;

Australian Poetry Slam (Queensland);

• monthly Volta readings;

• professional development workshops;

• and regional tours and events.

Our goals

Every program, award, or project Queensland Poetry facilitates is undertaken in pursuit of our three core organisational goals.

Excellence.

That our work demonstrates excellence in terms of creative process, supporting great artists, fostering artistic excellence, audience engagement and inclusion, and event production.

Connection.

That we communicate with impact to engage communities to create a vibrant society and culture. We influence our stakeholders to connect with, participate in and value poetry, to create stronger communities and improve people’s health and wellbeing through the power of poetry.

Sustainability.

That we have the human, financial and organisational resources to enable it to execute its functions, achieve its goals and invest in the future.
