Cheryl Leavy is Kooma; her Country is between St George and Cunnamulla. She has connections to Nguri people and Country in the Upper Maranoa, Carnarvon Gorge region. Cheryl is the 2021 winner of the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Indigenous Poetry Prize for ‘Ngali – We two’, a poem about blak, queer love.
