Mohsen Soltany Zand

Mohsen Soltany Zand is an Iranian political refugee who spent four years in detention at Port Headland and Villawood. He was still in Villawood when he released Mohsen, his debut spoken word album, which he was invited to perform at the 2004 Sydney Writers’ Festival following his release from detention. In 2005, he released his second album, Australian Dream, which features Mohsen’s poetry spoken to his own music by a host of Australian voices, including Bryan Brown, Tom Kenneally, John Bell and Claudia Karvan. Mohsen has read and performed from his book Inside Out (Kardoorair, 2010) at countless rallies and refugee events.
